| Just looked over my 2007 resolutions and realized I only succeeded at the first one. Sad...oh well, one is better than none, right? I am proud of that one and it's making a nice wall hanging now....
Don't know if I'll have any more success with these in 2008, but for the record I'll try again....I think I'm a little obsessed with making lists....
-Figure out how to fix the sewing machine I got off of Freecycle -Make another quilt (#1 needs to happen first...) -Make it to Cali to visit my sis -Finish the CMT program -Ride my bicycle alot -Finish my wedding album (I'm actually working on this now, as January is a good time for creative indoor projects to avoid cold-weather catatonia..)
I think that's enough for now.

| I'm back in school again...reading one fine-print chapter a week and having a paper due every week. I was actually excited about doing the homework, for the first two days. (That's how long my enthusiasm to do homework lasts every time.) It's not so bad, though...I've realized it is the first time in my life that I chose myself to go to school. Which makes it way better. And it's refreshing to be really interested in my classes, thinking that I'm actually going to use this information. Moreover, the state of Georgia is covering nearly all of my fees, which is the biggest blessing of all. | | |
| Hiked out to Contentment Falls and the train trestle a few weeks ago...beautiful. Finally went camping out on Lake Hartwell, woke up early with the geese, cooked over the fire, ate WAY too many burgers and felt sick...Kent made me the perfect s'more, and watched beautiful sunsets on the water. I got to see Kim for a few hours when she was passing thru, which was great, but now she's moving halfway across the country. But I DID finally make it camping. and it was worth it. We're actually going to Chicago in a few weeks to stay with my family, and we'll all be going camping on Lake Michigan and picking strawberries. Yum! Took another trip out to Whole Foods Market...spent lots on groceries, but it was worth it cuz the food is so amazing. Also got Kent to take me to another favorite store, Ikea -- the coolest home store ever.

| I finished my Quilt! I looked over my list of aspirations for 2007, and that's probably the only one that will happen. That's okay though. Finishing my quilt was exciting. If nothing else, I always get excited about all the little things in life (sleeping in on Saturdays...making a yummy new snack - like the blackberry-banana smoothie - so good!, cleaning my house - it really feels great to have a clean house; having a great time at our small group..... I do know something I MUST do this year, at least once...get in a good camping trip. In my love for camping, I keep buying all this camping stuff, and have never used it....I don't think Kent is quite as enthusiastic as I am about it, but we are going to go soon before it gets too hot to sleep outside. I can't wait.

| The other day, our kitchen cabinets collapsed. My husband went in the kitchen to get out a bowl, and they just started falling - the whole wall of them. Fell down on the sink and counter, and he was going to try and catch them - that didn't work - he jumped out of the way just as they toppled over on the floor, to a deafening crash. Broken glass managed to get all over the kitchen and even in the living room. it was everywhere. Cabinets aren't supposed to collapse...ever.. Kent works at a cabinet building shop and says people should be able to hang from them and they wouldn't budge. yah, they had definitely been mounted wrong...I don't know how the drywall had held them up for as long as it did. we spent valentine's evening cleaning up all the broken glass. amazingly some didn't break, so we have enough dishes to survive on... Praise God Kent was not hurt as shards of glass were ricocheting off him. I guess the dents in the kitchen floor will add to our the antiqueness and stability of our apartment. We are supposed to be reimbursed the losses, after the landlords talk it over with their insurance company...but you know now insurance co's are. Things have just been happening lately...last week Steve totaled my family's car....very thankful no one was hurt, and the car was old anyway...who knew that airbags are like $2500 each to replace? My dad also got cut from his job of nearly 30 years. My mother has had bronchitis for over two weeks and has yet to get better. Despite all of that I know God loves us SO much and is taking care of us in more ways we can not see.
